Dear Lunar Community, On behalf of the LEAG Continuous Lunar Orbital Capabilities – Specific Action Team (CLOC-SAT), we invite you to join us for a short Community Kick-off workshop on February 15th from 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm EST. Additional details regarding the meeting are provided below, including registration information and current agenda. The report from the CLOC-SAT will present a cogent rationale for a continuing US presence in lunar orbit, and we would like input from as many community members as possible. This kick-off serves as our first opportunity to gauge community interest and support. The kick-off session will have four invited speakers providing their perspectives on different aspects of this topic. The speakers will be followed by breakout sessions enabling open discussion and input from the broader community. These discussion sessions will focus on the interwoven “why” (unanswered science and exploration goals and objectives, “what” (observations and measurements to address the objectives), and “how” (architectures and implementation needs over the next decades). The kick-off is essentially a 'warm up' to highlight continuous lunar orbital capability issues. The goal is to stimulate community discussion that will result in follow-up input to the CLOC-SAT Team. After the kick-off, we encourage community members to prepare and submit diverse and thoughtful 'white papers' that focus on the next generation of lunar orbital needs, measurements, and capabilities, including support for assets on the surface. These white papers will feed into a CLOC-SAT report to be completed by August. SSERVI has partnered with LEAG to host this kickoff. Please register for the meeting at: https://nasaenterprise.webex.com/nasaenterprise/j.php?RGID=r7287e3a2f5b8c63a9faa6418df911fbf Registration is free, but is required to ensure you receive virtual connection information for the kickoff and any important updates. Cheers, Ben and Carle CLOC-SAT Co-chairs clocsat@gmail.com
