Venue: Virtual - Contact ams573@alumni.psu.edu for details

Hello EEers!

For our meeting next week (June 14), we will go through our updates and agenda.  Tom McCarthy of Motiv Space Systems will be our guest speaker.  He will focus on their extreme environment technologies developed in the motion control arena.  These projects have been funded by a combination of SBIR, Internal R&D, and STMD programs.  The applications are wide ranging from LTV mobility drive systems, manipulators, cargo off-load systems, ISRU processing equipment, etc.  The motivation behind the technology developments is to design the systems with expanded capability to address the extreme environments.  For example, they have been working the control and actuator systems with JPL in support of the COLDArm program which is to ultimately demonstrate avionics and mechanisms operating in a lunar environment down to -180C without the aid of heaters.  This is to show an ability to not only survive, but to operate through the night.  These advancements will be crucial for the long-term sustainability of the various systems and processing equipment required to support long term operations on the moon. If you have any questions or topics you would like to send in advance to Tom, please send them my way. As always, we will start at 3:05PM EST.

Another note is that confluence will be offline for maintenance this week and possibly some of next week.

We look forward to seeing you next week!
