On January 18, at 3pm ET, the ISRU Focus Group will hold our January monthly telecon, focused on detecting and finding the water ice at the lunar poles (see attached calendar invite). The tentative agenda is as follows:

  • General updates & house-keeping
    • Upcoming meetings, funding opportunities, etc.
  • Lior Rubanenko (Stanford): “The abundance of subsurface ice near the lunar poles: lessons learned from the Moon and Mercury”
  • Anicia Arredondo (SwRI): “Detecting molecular water on the lunar surface through MIR spectroscopy”
  • Coffee and Donuts Discussion: Lunar Technology Community-Driven Whitepaper

Also, Space Resources Roundtable, hosted by Colorado School of Mines, will occur on June 6-9, 2023.

  • This conference will bring together world experts from space agencies, research organizations, academia, the space private sector, the mining supply chain, and policy experts to present innovative approaches in space resource identification, technology development, public and private partnerships, and regulatory regimes.
  • Specifically, this meeting will include discussions centered around these topics and how they apply to space-resource activities in cislunar space and the Moon, space manufacturing and construction, space infrastructure, commerce, international efforts, and legal and public policy issues.
  • March 24 will be the abstract submission deadline, and April 14 will be the early-bird registration deadline.
  • A website for SRR will soon be created, and we will distribute more info to this community as it becomes available. Mark your calendars!
