David LaBranche, DoD's Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, Infrastructure, and Environment (SDSFIE)
Mr. David LaBranche has served since 2008 as the Geospatial Information Officer (GIO) in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Energy, Installations, and Environment. His principal duties include development and governance of geospatial data standards for DoD installations, data quality management, and location intelligence support for a variety of missions executed by the Office of the Secretary of Defense.
Abstract:
The Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, Infrastructure, and Environment (SDSFIE) is a family of geospatial data standards developed by the US Department of Defense to map a wide range of built and natural infrastructure on DoD facilities, ranges, training areas, and civil works projects. This briefing will describe the basic structure of SDSFIE, focus on our vector geospatial standard, and also outline how DoD governs the evolution and maintenance of the SDSFIE.
